Parallax - Depth Perception

Parallax's latest album, Depth Perception, is an impressive display of technical proficiency and creative vision. The band has managed to seamlessly blend elements of progressive metal, jazz, and ambient music to create a sound that is both intricate and atmospheric.

From the opening track, "Horizon," it is clear that Parallax is not content to simply follow in the footsteps of other prog-metal bands. The song features a complex interplay between guitar and keyboard, with shifting time signatures and unexpected twists and turns.

The album's title track, "Depth Perception," is a particular standout. The song begins with a haunting piano melody before launching into a heavy, groove-laden riff. The band's rhythm section is particularly impressive here, with drummer Alex Rudinger and bassist Evan Brewer locking in tight to create a propulsive, head-bobbing groove.

Other highlights include "The Observer," which features an extended saxophone solo from guest musician Mark Lettieri, and "The Edge of Time," which showcases the band's ability to create powerful, epic soundscapes.
