About Skyhooks
Skyhooks were an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in March 1973 by Greg Macainsh on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Imants "Freddie" Strauks on drums. They were soon joined by Bob "Bongo" Starkie on guitar and backing vocals, and Red Symons on guitar, vocals and keyboards; Graeme "Shirley" Strachan became lead vocalist in March 1974. Described as a glam rock band, because of flamboyant costumes and make-up, Skyhooks addressed issues including buying drugs in "Carlton (Lygon Street Limbo)

We were all pretty stoned and we were suddenly met with the full force of the original Skyhooks from before they had to 'tone it down a bit' for the mainstream.
I still remember the about 10 minute drum solo that still echoes in my head.
I still love them! But now, as an older person and professional musician I get to rewatch, re-admire and understand better the amazing musicianship of each member of this quintet that was summed into the brilliant music (and theatre of this band).
Another bonus of being older and a musician is that I can have my own private and personal experience and greater appreciation through learning how to play Skyhooks songs. Here is my acoustic version of the Skyhooks song, Carlton. I hope you enjoy it! @0aEA
